In 1857, a telegraph lineman approached the humble shop of a Chicago blacksmith with a pressing problem: one half of his pliers had broken while on the job, and he urgently needed a replacement. Little did he know that this encounter would mark the beginning of an extraordinary journey for Klein Tools, our beloved brand.
The blacksmith, Mathias Klein, originally skilled in the art of wrought-iron work for hinges and locks, took it upon himself to forge a new part for the lineman. Despite being unfamiliar with such a task, he riveted the old half of the pliers and sent the lineman back to work. But fate had a different plan in store. The lineman returned a few weeks later, with the other half of the pliers now broken. Undeterred, Mathias Klein agreed to help once again. As he skilfully mated the two halves together, he unknowingly forged the very first Klein tool. And thus, a legacy was born.
Fast forward 166 years to the present day, and Klein Tools has become a globally recognized name in the realm of tools. Still proudly family-owned, we continue to uphold the traditions and values set forth by our founder.
